The Day My Hero Left

Last Wednesday June 3, 2009 My Hero left For 455 Days..

Monday Night My mom and I arrived in Colorado Springs, Co. With Sean on the phone telling us to get off on circle drive exit and come to the Circle K and he would be there. We find him standing outside his little back car talking on his phone, Knowing that his mom and sister both need to use the potty he stays out of the way, but not after his mom gives him a hug on her way by. 10:00pm who would have known that we would be riding all over Colorado Springs, seeing so much. Sean taking us up on Cheyenne Mountain at night was so pretty, the lights that never stopped you could see them for miles. We Drove through Gold Camp Road. Sean driving Moms truck takes us all over that night. The next morning we set off to see everything possible and I think we did. First stop the bike shop to show mom what kind of bike we want when we get home. Please Mom save some money for me since I can't seem to save any on my own.. We rode all over. Sean shows us everything and is so good when it comes to me wanting to take pictures, he stops and he even poses for some. We make a day of just hanging out mom, sean and me. I will never forget this. None of us thinking about what tomorrow is bringing we just laugh and talk and do all the fun things. That night at the motel watching my my baby brother pack his pack bag with so much stuff knowing all this stuff is going to last him 455 day in Afghanistan, was hard. 0500 we are up and getting ready to head to base (Fort Carson) so that Sean can check out of his barrack and get ready to leave. We arrive o600 and check out was fast. So there we sit till 1100 knowing this is the last we talk or even see for 455 days. We laugh we make the last few goodbye, and will call soon. We take pictures and one of the guys (seans friends) ask who get to drive the Audi home and raising my hand he says how come he has never been able to drive it I say oh well you need to be he older sister.. 1200 the time has come when he has to say goodbye to us. Let me tell you this is hard to do..Gun in tow and bag on back he tells us he loves us and will call us soon..he walks away.2 min later when we are kinda done crying he shows back up and says the bus is not here yet will have to wait. of course we are not minding this at all this means more time. When the bus show up he walks away such a man, such a hero, not scared as to what is next to happen but willing to go..I have to text him when we were on our way home because I have no clue as to where the cruise is on his car and he just laughs and even more when I tell him we made it off base and to his car but not before mom misses a turn and then almost takes a wrong turn, but all in all it was good. I miss my hero I love my hero my hero will always be my baby brother Sgt. Sean Ash us Army
